I receive a call from a woman who can not get her "resume" to fax from her computer. Now remember this was took place when faxing was still a major method to send information. Now we just email things. Anyways, I walk the customer through the entire process. verify she has the correct hardware. she is using the right drivers, and the modem is working. Every single result is the same, she faxes a blank document to someone. After over an hour on the phone I advise her to bring her computer in. Something is either wrong with the software or modem.
She brings the computer in, and she follows the sets from the manual while I watch. She opens works, and pulls down the menu to fax. I notice she has nothing on the screen, and I mentally wonder if she's been faxing blank screens, but quickly dismiss it. She gets to the part of the directions where you preview you fax, and it states. "Verify what you want to fax is on the monitor". At this point she takes her PRINTED RESUME and holds it against the monitor.
Now at this point I start looking for hidden cameras. Am I on some prank show? Surly you must not be doing this........Surly I am wrong.......Surly......yes. Yes she is indeed doing this, and no it's not a prank on me. So I try to explain why that won't work, as nicely and kindly as possible. She still gets mad at me for wasting her time on the phone.
Evidently I should to have guessed she was printing out her fax's and holding them to her screen.
